At Eden, we have taken extra special care to select the products we use and stock. Not all our ranges are vegan, however we do have a strict requirement that all our ranges:
- are not tested on animals and be cruelty free
- are ethical in their practices (and preferably giving back to communities which ingredients are sourced where possible)
- and sustainable.
We basically check that the brands we choose to affiliate with hold the same values as us and generally give a damn about their ingredients and the impact those ingredients and their practices have on the places or communities they are sourced from, and that they consider the environment.
Our core ranges that include vegan products are:
Kitoko – which is our primary colour range and we also stock a lot of their retail products. The entire Kitoko range is 100% vegan. This includes all their colour and all their products which are also all sulphate and paraben free.
KEVIN MURPHY – When searching the world for ingredients, KEVIN.MURPHY looked for companies that use micro cultivation, organic growing practices, or ecologically sound wild harvesting techniques to ensure the KEVIN.MURPHY range is of the very highest natural quality. All KEVIN.MURPHY hair products are sulphate free, paraben free and cruelty free. Kevin Murphy also have a great range of vegan products available, which we have a list of in salon.
Paul Mitchell – Paul Mitchell has a philosophy of giving back and caring. They are 100% cruelty free, and contribute to a range of environmental initiatives, including Reforest’Action, Waterkeeper Alliance and the Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Farm just to name a few. Some of their ranges do have a sheep’s wool protein (ethically sourced from New Zealand) and others also have bees wax base, however of their ranges, the famous Tea Tree range which we stock is 100% vegan, and uses tea-tree sourced from Australian farms based in north New South Wales!
Dilkara Essence of Australia – while some of the products within the Dilkara range include a natural honey fragrance, none of the styling products stocked at Eden include that ingredient and are all vegan. Dilkara is a beautiful range made by Canberra based hairdresser Julie Oakley who is of indigenous heritage- a proud Kamilaroi woman.
Key ingredients for Dilkara Essence of Australia have been sourced from local Indigenous communities. Julie has chosen to work with these groups to assist them achieve their business success, and because she knows of the integrity and care that has been taken to grow and harvest these native elements.
Some of the native ingredients used in the Dilkara range include:
- Kakadu Plum extract
- Lilly
- Pilly Berry
- Quandong
- Lemon Myrtle
- Tea Tree Oil
- Eucalytpus Blue Gum Oil
- Native Peppermint Oil.
If you are looking for a vegan mascara we also happen to stock the BEST vegan mascara and basically best mascara in general, from Silk Oil of Morocco. The reason we stock this product is because I have the most sensitive eyes in the world and this is the ONLY mascara I can use. Since stocking it I have put countless clients onto it who will also never turn back!
We will keep you posted also about another vegan make-up range that we are in the process of testing and hoping to bring you soon which offers totally vegan and natural foundation, mineral powders, concealers, eyeshadows and more!
We are always on the hunt for new ranges and products that we can experiment with and decide whether they are worthy of our awesome Eden guests. If there is something you know of that sits within this family that you would like to see at Eden, please let us know, we would love to hear from you!
