After nearly 13 years of running Eden as a salon with a team of employed stylists, I have decided, following much deliberation and consultation with our team, to cease operating under this model.
It hasn’t been an easy decision. Many events and changes over the past few years, both personally and professionally, have shaped it, but I believe it is the right step for the business and for me.
Eden has been such a big part of my life, and I am so grateful to every team member and every client, past and present, who has been part of it.
You’ve trusted us with your hair, shared your stories in our chairs, and supported us through every season of this business.
It’s been an honour to operate a business in this Dickson community. Through the highs and lows, you’ve made this journey something very special. Truly, thank you.
What is changing
Over the coming weeks, Eden will become a collective of independent stylists.
We will no longer operate with a team of employed stylists, and we’ve included an update below about what this means for each of our team members.
Each independent stylist will run their own business from the salon, with their own booking and payment systems, while sharing the same beautiful space at Challis Street, Dickson, that you know.
Our team
Emmalene will continue to operate from Eden as Canberra Hair Extensions, Tuesday to Friday, supported by Eilish, who is close to completing her apprenticeship.
Alysha will be operating from Eden on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9am to 8pm.
Alysha brings a wealth of experience and a bubbly energy. After being self-employed for the past 9 years, she’s ready for her new chapter at Eden, and her books are open. Please email [email protected], and we can help you book with Alysha.
Maria and Harmony will not be continuing as independent stylists as part of this transition.
Harmony’s last day will be Wednesday 4 November, and Maria’s last day will be Friday 20 November.
If you would like to see them before they finish, or simply wish them farewell, you’re very welcome to book with them up to and including their last days.
Harmony is likely to step away from the industry for a while and move into an administrative role. After a break, she may return to Eden as an independent stylist one day a week. If that happens, we will absolutely let you know.
Maria is also exploring other options, both within and outside hairdressing.
If either of them continues hairdressing elsewhere, we will happily share where you can find them.
Beautiful Madi has recently moved on from our team here at Dickson and can be found at Polychroma in Deakin.
Katie will return to her role at Hare and Fawn and will be available there from January 2027 on Fridays.
Nicole will continue in her role as Business Development Manager for Stella Hair Collective.
Nicole and Bronte will help with enquiries about these changes and what they mean for you.
In the coming weeks, we will be inviting more independent stylists to join us at Eden. As they join, we’ll introduce them and share how you can book with them directly.
What I’ll be focusing on
I will continue to work from the salon as Canberra Hair Extensions, specialising exclusively in hair extensions, colour and hair loss solutions.
I will no longer offer haircuts as a standalone service, and I will contact my clients directly if this affects any upcoming appointments.
All hair extension clients and long-term colour clients are very welcome and will be prioritised.
My hours until the end of the year will be:
- Tuesday: 10am to 2pm (hair loss clients)
- Wednesday and Thursday: 9am to 8pm
- Friday: 9am to 6pm
I will confirm my 2027 hours closer to the time. I’ll be supported by Eilish, my emerging stylist, who is close to completing her apprenticeship.
You’re warmly welcome at Hare and Fawn
We would love to invite you to move your appointments to our sister salon, Hare and Fawn in Queanbeyan.
These changes do not affect Hare and Fawn, and their wonderful team is ready to welcome you and look after your hair with the same care you’ve always had at Eden.
Your details and history are already with us, so booking is easy. Bronte, who looks after bookings for both salons, will be happy to help you find a time and the right stylist, and Nicole will also be helping from 30 October.
You can book online, call 02 6210 8990, email [email protected] or visit us at 128 Monaro Street, Queanbeyan.
A project close to my heart: Stella Hair Collective
Some of you may have followed my journey over the past few years as I’ve been growing my own hair topper brand, Stella Hair Collective.
Stella was born from the needs of people who have sat in my chair, and my desire to create the solutions I hadn’t been able to find for them.
It’s a project very close to my heart: helping people feel confident through hair toppers, hair loss solutions and education, alongside fun accessories and hair pieces I’ve spent my career looking for.
If you’d like to be part of the Stella journey, join our launch mailing list.
We’ll let you know when we launch and share invitations to education and charity events at our Dickson salon that may interest you.
We won’t spam your inbox. In fact, we haven’t even sent our first email yet!
I’d love to have you along for this next chapter.
Saturdays, deposits, Afterpay and enquiries
From Saturday 24 October 2026, Eden will no longer trade on Saturdays.
Because of fees and charges, we no longer accept regular Afterpay payments, but will continue to accept Afterpay Plus.
If you have paid a deposit for an upcoming appointment that will be cancelled, it will be refunded to you. Outstanding gift vouchers will also be refunded. Please email [email protected] so we can arrange this for you.
Email is our preferred way to receive all enquiries, allowing us to respond fully while maintaining our care for clients in the chair.
If you’d prefer a phone conversation, please email a brief overview of what you’d like to discuss, and we’ll get back to you by email or phone as soon as possible.
If you have questions or concerns, please reach out. I’m committed to making this transition smooth and transparent, and sincerely appreciate your understanding and support.
And again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Much love,
Emma
