Esther was purchased in 2018 in celebration and preparation for our move to our new space. We wanted to purchase a sculpture or piece of public art which we had planned to have out the front of our salon at DKSN.
After much searching, we came across Gillie and Marc. Originally, we looked at their bronze sculptures (hopefully one day one of them might be in the budget) and fell in love, but then we saw Esther.
Esther seemed to be the perfect fit for a number of reasons. The Eden colour has always been green (in varying shades over the years). Her green foliage represents sustainability and the ‘garden’ aspect of the Eden brand.
The Eden ethos has always been to support cruelty free products, and the symbol of cruelty free is usually the rabbit. Esther is divinely feminine and a symbol of beauty in her own unique way.
It seemed to be a perfect match. So, after many delays in the project of moving our salon to our new space at DKSN and a stint on owner Emma’s balcony in the meantime, Esther finally found her home at Eden.
After moving to our new location, we realised how high traffic the area was and that in front of the salon is prone to extreme wind – not suitable for a beautiful bunny to be out on her own. So now she is an inside bunny. You will see her in different places around the salon, whether she is in our entry way or in front of our basins, Esther is here to stay. And so, that is the story of the bunny.
Fun fact: Esther had a 6-month stint at Bondi Junction Westfield for 6 months at one point!
